Dave was born and raised in Montreal, and developed a keen interest in photography in the early 80’s when he bought his first camera, a Nikkormat FTn. This camera would be his introduction to what would prove to be an exciting new part time career in the photography world.
In 1993, Dave moved to Victoria BC, to enroll in The Western Academy of Photography. Here he would sharpen his eye, hone his technical skills and learn the business side of the industry.
When The Commonwealth Games went to Victoria in 1994, Eastman Kodak (a major sponsor) asked all the students at his school if any would be interested in working with them during the games. Dave applied, was accepted and worked the Victoria Commonwealth Games. He was later called back by Kodak to work at every Summer and Winter Olympic event from 1994
