I stepped up to the mic for the first time in 1965 as a student broadcaster. I landed my first paid radio gig in 1968. I worked behind the mic in commercial radio through college and despite of my intent to teach high school English and/or speech and theater I subsequently lived in Radio for the next 35 plus years working as an air personality, production manager, operations manager, station manager and chief engineer. I worked South Bend/ Suburban Chicago, South Florida, Memphis and Orlando markets.
I was offered my first voice over gig in 1971 by Chicago film producer Brad Bate and I’ve been chasing that work ever since. In 1976 I received formal training in voice over/voice acting from the premier Chicago V.O. coach, Kirk Johnson Sr. who at that time hung his hat with Studio One.
Over the years I’ve delivered likely thousands of commercial scripts, institutional narrative and the rest for clients big and small. My voice work has even been featured on the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw as a soundbite meant to characterize Miami Radio. I’ve also done television news from the anchor desk as well as radio news delivery. I was a cast member (small part) in a “documentary” about the making of the film, Blair Witch Project which aired on the SciFi Channel. Heck, I’ve even done a couple of movie trailers although I’m hardly a movie trailer guy. I’ve won a bunch of awards and “attaboys” for creative, production and talent.
I continue to talk for food. Currently, my professional representation is by Airwave Talent in Cleveland and Boca Talent in South Florida.
My studio compliment includes a Mackie 1202, Sony PCM 2500, MDX 2200 Composer Pro, EV RE20 and other stuff. I’m running with PROTOOLS and I have ISDN capability.
