My own System is PC based with Adobe Creative Suite CS3 installed, which includes Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Encore, Soundbooth, Illustrator, Flash and some other stuff I’ve never opened. The CPU is an AMD Dual Core 6000+, so it handles rendering tasks quickly. I can deal with DVCPROHD (P2) footage on my SATAII external drives. If something with greater bandwidth comes along, I can build a SATA Raid pretty quickly. Decks for DV and HDV can be rented cheap.
Experience
Over the past 15 years I have edited hundreds of documentary style featurettes, commercials, promos, sizzles, EPKS, VNRS and intersticials for TV, DVD and the Web (and some projects that finished on film.) I have overseen all aspects of projects from casting and post-production planning to telecine and editing to audio editing and creating cut lists for film and supervising online edits. I started out on the Avid Media Composer 4 in the early 90’s, added After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator skills for titles and effects, and have now migrated to Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro for editing. I have finished projects to tape for broadcast and DVD, as well as encoding finished projects for delivery on DVD using Adobe Encore and DVD Studio Pro and now many projects are finished for the web requiring delivery in the many flavors of WMV, Quicktime and Flash. I have worked in large post-production facilities, small independent film production offices and at home on my own system. I can work alone or with a producer and have sat patiently with many clients without offending them.
