At first glance, the portfolio website of Nicky's World Productions seem like pages torn from a comic book, and may drive many to disregard it's skillfully handcrafted underlying code in light of the graphics. "I am capable of more conservative styles, but I would prefer to save those for my potential clients to showcase in my portfolio, and have my website express something personal about me and my work," says founder Nicky Mares. Nick decided not to be limited by conventional standards, although his work is strictly WC3 Standard Compliant, and bears the obligatory "HTML | CSS" validator links at the bottom of his projects. "But the interactivity of Flash is based on Actionscript, which are essentially nothing more than scripts, and something Javascript has been doing since it's inception. Javascript is capable of so much more". Although Macromedia birthed an incredible technology with Flash, he explains, the overwhelming conformist attitude in so called designers has allowed Adobe, the company that now owns Flash, to monopolize the creativity of web design.
