When I flip through magazines, glance at billboards, and channel surf, I can't help but wonder...how can I be part of a team that creates clean designs with powerful meanings?
At ECU's School of Fine Arts & Communication, I was accepted into the graphic design program with experience in illustration, textiles, ceramics, photography, and animation. With unique exposure in designing posters for community events, creating food and beverage packaging from inception to final product, and traveling to Europe with my peers to become a better artist/designer. In ECU’s graphic design program I have been immersed in typography, letterpress, print design, packaging, interface design, and exhibit design.
During my career as a designer I have been given the chance to work on some amazing projects and people. During my internship as a designer at Brian Hall Inc., I was able to gain first hand experience working one on one with clients as well as co-workers creating designs for advertising campaigns, print collateral, wearable’s, digital interfaces/platforms, brand identities, and viral and social marketing. This opportunity also let me work with big name clients such as the Hyatt McCormick, Chicago Sister Cities, Copper's Hawk and many more. Another opportunity I was given was to be a freelance designer for New Trigger Media Group based in Chicago. For them I was given projects to create eye-catching designs and illustrations for clients such as the well-known Chicago hotspot, Girl and The Goat. Since then I have stretched my talents by working for Ouch! Magazine. An underground fashion magazine, I designed the 80 page issue that hit news stands in November of 2011. For such project I had to prep the magazine for the printers and make sure everything is just right, from photo enhancements to very detailed credits. As of now I am freelance interactive designer and brand consultant to MareWear. Only at the beginning state, MareWear is sure to be a competitor in the world of athletic apparel as it is my job to create and oversee branding and design, from the logo and webpages to apparel.
As a designer and an artist I want to put something out into the world and know that what I created affects how and what we see in the world we are in today and the world we will face in the future. I am a hard worker, team player, and most importantly want to surround myself with people that feel the same devotion for design as I do. Similar to most creatives, I work best when emerged in a culture with people just as passionate for design as myself. Success can only be achieved by fostering an environment suited for creativity and teamwork.
