As a Cinematographer and Lighting Director I use every skill, trick and piece of knowledge I have in my field to visually build the director's image with equipment available. I can skillfully use all the shiny knew toys available to create that look but at the same time my skills are not solely based on having everything I could ever want at my disposal. In the world of Indie Film one must work with the budget and tools given to them to make the best and desired look for the project. I pride myself in my ability to make a small budget look grant and a grant budget look subtle. An audience, no matter how film tech savvy, should never guess what Camera and Lighting had at their disposal. The look of the film should be invisible but moving.

BIO: Rhode Island native J. Poisson has always had a strong passion for film. As a child, her favorite thing to do was go to the movies. One such childhood movie, Explorers (1985), caught J's imagination so much she thought that she and her kindergartner friends, like the characters in the movie, where going to build a spaceship and explore space. To say the least, fantasy and reality had to be explained to J. about her interstellar ambitions.

Of course her ambitions remained high, J. doesn't seek the limelight of the camera but rather control of the lights and camera. She has served as Director of Photography or Lighting Director on 9 feature films and 15 short films.
